A Life Worth Living
Lives take on a multitude of forms. Many of them contain many things, have lots of bells and whistles, are complicated and fast paced. Others are simple, uncomplicated and have a kind of space that is associated with basic austerity in their plain-ness, not to be confused with virtue per sé. Then there are those that strike a resemblance of a balance between these two, with characteristics of both.
What is a well lived life? Surely there are many true answers to this question. For me, I think one of our greatest tasks is to really love the self, our own selves, totally. That means coming to a real sense of peace about the reality of who you are and loving that self through all the changes that it undergoes through the living, evolving process. Loving ourselves through fear and through loss and learning vast amounts about life itself through those experiences that bring us face to face with the core of ourself, with life, with the Unnameable--the Mystery of it all.
When all the detritus is filtered out, certainly what must remain are the beacons that shine through:-- the deep, powerful, interdimensional Orbs of Love that we have made contact with, brushed across, embraced for nanoseconds yet felt like eternity. These are the things that remain when the pointless is left behind. These are what we cling to. The Power called Love: not the personifications of that love, but the Love itself. Nameless. Omnipresent. All Inclusive. Whole. All Powerful. Love. The Source of sources who has no location, who is everywhere. Soul Source. Alpha and Omega and Alpha again.
We have the opportunity, I think, as human beings to inspire and share the truth of this beauty with oneanother. For in the end it is these things that will matter. It is these things that will shine through. The rest of it all will not even be a blip on the radar...and we each know it.
A life worth living is a life that inspires the love in each of us to shine. We are but mirrors for each other, and that is where the love, the real love of oneself comes in. For what can I share with you, but only that which I have or know? It's easy to scare yourself unto death, it's the loving yourself unto life that takes focus and vision. It's the love that we will remember.
Love is what we live for---the real kind. It's what makes life worth living.

Shayla Enjoying Her Fisher-Price 'Easy Link'
Shayla got this for Christmas last year and we just got around to setting it up here recently. We were kind of concerned that once she started playing with this that she would become obsessed with 'being on the computer' all the time. As it turns out, it's quite comprehensive in it's educational scope and it actually turns out to be perfect right about now with lots of cognitive room 'to grow on'! Thanks Mom and Risa! Perfect!

Potty Training: The New Movement Forward
So we have arrived at the fascination of all things Potty related in our Journey with our almost 3 yr. old daughter Shayla. The bathroom has taken on an almost amusement park kind of draw for her. Now she looks for opportunities to have a reason to go to the potty. I don't really know how you do that other than actually having to go, but she does. It seems as if she can go pee on the suggestion or question alone. Funny. She's a pee machine. I swear more comes out than goes in, but I guess I'm missing something here. Oh well. :) (I'm learning to say that a lot...the 'Oh well' part. :) )
The bathroom ritual has become quite extensive now and of course she wants to be involved in every part of it beyond the actual going and wiping, so we oblige as much as possible. There's the actual going, then ("No, wait...don't stand up.") the wiping, then the emptying of her little potty into the toilet, then the rinsing out and re-emptying, the putting it (potty) back together, closing the lid, flushing the toilet itself, the washing of the hands, and then finally the re-diapering and re-clothing of the bithday suit. Whew! Each little venture takes 10-15 minutes and it's our new little in-house adventure still holding 2nd place second week running in the Top Ten Exciting Things To Do At Any Given Time list in the Shayla's World periodical that comes out monthly.
It's fun for the whole family. :) Seriously, I'm pleased that she's finally taken to the process, however the initial resistance is understandable to a point. "Why should I want to go in a specific location everytime I need to when as it stands I can go whenever and whereever I want", they may think? To that we all think, "Ah child, the selling point shall be when it dawns upon you that you too can be free and clean of your own personal debris and leave it where it comes out.....once you cease being fascinated with it, of course (smile)".
The journey continues...onward through the clouds of baby powder.....

"Would Somebody Please Give Me Back My Sweetloving Kid?"
Who is this being that has been inhabiting the body of my daughter this past week? Not fair. :) Nobody told me that 'posession' was one of the stages of development. I know, I know...this is nothing compared to what may come in the years ahead and all that, but I still have the right to drag my heels toward a future of ocassional (let's hope!) speechless moments of wonder such as like I have experienced this past week! Yeah, that's right, jawdropping moments of shock! Is this kid really challenging me on this?!
Her mother and I are going to have to start having parental task force meetings nightly here pretty soon just so we can head off this steep learning curve of manipulation!! It's funny how they know of the law of 'divide and conquer' so early on and many other basic tools of survival, and have absolutely no qualms about putting it all into full action. Unlike you, they do have eyes in the back of their head and posess very clear omni-directional hearing. So out witting them is truly an exercise as they're getting faster in every way and you're....well, kind of....getting slower. You have to admit it's a kind of humorous dynamic.
It is really it's funniest when they're asleep. :) That in itself gives me a chuckle. Thank God for a sense of humor. Whew boy I would be in serious doo-doo without it! :)
Here's to those 2 year olds going on 10..... :)

I had fun this afternoon hanging out with Katie Jo, Lani, Shayla, and Charlotte! It was a little tribe on the move. Little girls are so fun in their little groupings. We were at the playground and one of them decided that she was going to go pee in the bushes. She immediately starts to strip down and before you know it we have a little nudist movement on our hands as the other two decide that being naked in the playground would be a great idea! Try stopping that in quick order with 2 adults and three little girls that are all trying to strip down in public simultaneously. Funny! That was a cute moment. :)
